Journal ArticleDOI

Basaltic magmatism on the Moon: A perspective from volcanic picritic glass beads

TL;DR: In this paper, the trace element properties of the moon's volcanic glass beads have been analyzed using SIMS techniques and it is shown that the glass beads represent polybaric melting that initiated at depths of at least 1000 km.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silicate mineralogy of martian meteorites

TL;DR: In this article, microprobe data for plagioclase, olivine, and pyroxene from 19 of the martian meteorites that are representative of the six types of martian rocks were provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ion microprobe investigation of plagioclase and orthopyroxene from lunar Mg-suite norites: Implications for calculating parental melt REE concentrations and for assessing postcrystallization REE redistribution

TL;DR: In this paper, the parent trace element inversion (REE) was used to estimate parent REE from both orthopyroxene and plagioclase data to see if both data inversions produce concordant melt compositions and thus better constrain the composition of melts parental to Mgsuite norites.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative planetary mineralogy: Implications of martian and terrestrial jarosite. A crystal chemical perspective

TL;DR: The importance of the discovery of jarosite at the Meridiani Planum region of Mars is discussed in this paper, where the authors demonstrate that jarosite requires a unique environment for its formation, crystallizing from highly acidic pH 2 that reacted with aqueous solutions in shallow aquifers or on the martian surface.
