Journal ArticleDOI

Functional organization of the peripheral retina: sensitivity to periodic stimuli.

TL;DR: Modulation sensitivity of the peripheral human retina was measured for photopic vision with an interference-fringe method that bypasses the optics of the eye, finding that when measured with low frequency test objects, sensitivity remains rather constant until a certain eccentricity is reached.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wavelength discrimination measured with square-wave gratings.

TL;DR: Small brightness mismatches between adjacent grating bars generally improve wavelength discrimination and cause low-frequency attenuation in the wavelength modulation vs spatial-frequency function so that it resembles conventional luminance modulation vsatial-frequency functions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of luminance contrast on hue discrimination

TL;DR: Hue discrimination is poor when measured with fine gratings in which alternate bars differ in wavelength but not in luminance, or with small test objects that differ in wavelengths from their background, while hue discrimination improves if a small luminance contrast is added.
Journal ArticleDOI

Invariance of visual receptive-field size and visual acuity with viewing distance.

TL;DR: It is concluded that size constancy is not a result of changes in receptive-field dimensions.
