Jason P. Sheehan,Stylianos Pikis,Abdurrahman I. Islim,Ching-Jen Chen,Adomas Bunevicius,Selçuk Peker,Yavuz Samanci,Ahmed M Nabeel,Wael A. Reda,Wael A. Reda,Sameh R. Tawadros,Sameh R. Tawadros,Amr M N El-Shehaby,Amr M N El-Shehaby,Khaled Abdelkarim,Khaled Abdelkarim,Reem M Emad,Violaine Delabar,David Mathieu,Cheng-Chia Lee,Huai-Che Yang,Roman Liscak,Jaromir Hanuska,Roberto Martínez Álvarez,Dev N Patel,Douglas Kondziolka,Nuria Martinez Moreno,Manjul Tripathi,Herwin Speckter,Camilo Albert,Greg N Bowden,Ronald J. Benveniste,L. Dade Lunsford,Michael D. Jenkinson +33 more
TL;DR: In this article, the radiologic and neurological outcomes of expectant and conservatively managed management of asymptomatic meningioma patients were compared using data from 14 centers across 10 countries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stereotactic Radiosurgery Compared With Active Surveillance for Asymptomatic, Parafalcine, and Parasagittal Meningiomas: A Matched Cohort Analysis From the IMPASSE Study
Stylianos Pikis,Georgios Mantziaris,Adomas Bunevicius,Abdurrahman I. Islim,Selçuk Peker,Yavuz Samanci,Ahmed M. Nabeel,Wael A. Reda,Sameh R. Tawadros,Amr M N El-Shehaby,Khaled Abdelkarim,Reem M Emad,V. Delabar,David Mathieu,Cheng-Chia Lee,Huai-Che Yang,Roman Liscak,J. May,Roberto Martínez Álvarez,Dev N. Patel,Douglas Kondziolka,Kenneth E. Bernstein,Nuria Martinez Moreno,Manjul Tripathi,H. Speckter,Camilo Albert,Greg Bowden,Ronald J. Benveniste,L. Dade Lunsford,Michael D. Jenkinson,Jason P. Sheehan +30 more
TL;DR: Up-front SRS affords superior radiological PFPS meningioma control as compared with active surveillance and may lower the risk of meningo-related permanent neurological deficit and/or death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stereotactic radiosurgery versus active surveillance for incidental, convexity meningiomas: a matched cohort analysis from the IMPASSE study
Stylianos Pikis,Georgios Mantziaris,Abdurrahman I. Islim,Selçuk Peker,Yavuz Samanci,Ahmed M. Nabeel,Wael A. Reda,Khaled Abdelkarim,Amr M N El-Shehaby,Sameh R. Tawadros,Reem M Emad,V. Delabar,David Mathieu,Cheng-Chia Lee,Huai-Che Yang,Roman Licsak,Jaromír Hanuška,Roberto Martínez Álvarez,Dev N. Patel,Douglas Kondziolka,Kenneth E. Bernstein,Nuria Martinez Moreno,Manjul Tripathi,H. Speckter,Camilo Albert,Greg Bowden,Ronald J. Benveniste,Dade Lunsford,Michael D. Jenkinson,Jason P. Sheehan +29 more
TL;DR: Tumor control was achieved in significantly more patients after radiosurgery compared to those managed with active surveillance and this is one of the first reports to suggest that SRS is a low risk and effective treatment strategy for asymptomatic incidentally discovered convexity meningiomas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Active Surveillance to Stereotactic Radiosurgery for the Management of Patients with an Incidental Frontobasal Meningioma—A Sub-Analysis of the IMPASSE Study
Abdurrahman I. Islim,Georgios Mantziaris,Stylianos Pikis,Ching-Jen Chen,Adomas Bunevicius,Selçuk Peker,Yavuz Samanci,Ahmed M. Nabeel,Wael A. Reda,Sameh R. Tawadros,Amr M N El-Shehaby,Khaled Abdelkarim,Reem M Emad,V. Delabar,David Mathieu,Cheng-Chia Lee,Huai-Che Yang,Roman Liscak,J. May,Roberto Martínez Álvarez,Nuria Martinez Moreno,Manjul Tripathi,Douglas Kondziolka,H. Speckter,Camilo Albert,Greg Bowden,Ronald J. Benveniste,L. Dade Lunsford,Jason P. Sheehan,Michael D. Jenkinson +29 more
TL;DR: Within 5 years of follow-up, SRS improved the radiological control of incidental frontobasal meningiomas (0% vs. 52%), but no symptoms occurred in either group, but no patients subject to SRS underwent further treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stereotactic radiosurgery for asymptomatic petroclival region meningiomas: a focused analysis from the IMPASSE study
Georgios Mantziaris,Stylianos Pikis,Adomas Bunevicius,Selçuk Peker,Yavuz Samanci,Ahmed M. Nabeel,Wael A. Reda,Sameh R. Tawadros,Amr M N El-Shehaby,Khaled Abdelkarim,Reem M Emad,Violaine Delabar,David Mathieu,Cheng-Chia Lee,Huai-Che Yang,Roman Liscak,Jaromir Hanuska,Roberto Martínez Álvarez,Nuria Martinez Moreno,Manjul Tripathi,Herwin Speckter,Camilo Albert,Greg N Bowden,Ronald J. Benveniste,Dev N Patel,Douglas Kondziolka,Kenneth E. Bernstein,L. Dade Lunsford,Jason P. Sheehan +28 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the safety and efficacy of upfront stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for patients with asymptomatic, petroclival region meningiomas.
