Magnetically-driven phase transformation strengthening in high entropy alloys
TL;DR: It is shown that a nanostructured phase at lattice defects in CoCrNi causes its extraordinary properties, while it is magnetically frustrated and suppressed in CrMnFeCoNi.
Journal ArticleDOI
Solid solution strengthening theories of high-entropy alloys
TL;DR: A review of solid solution strengthening models for random concentrated solid solutions of which high entropy alloys are an interesting subset is presented in this article, where the basic concepts of this theory is explained and its capabilities are compared with few other existing models for solute strengthening of HEAs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deactivating deformation twinning in medium-entropy CrCoNi with small additions of aluminum and titanium
C.E. Slone,Carlyn R. LaRosa,Christopher H. Zenk,Easo P. George,Easo P. George,Maryam Ghazisaeidi,Michael J. Mills +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, small additions of Al and Ti to a CrCoNi alloy deactivate deformation twinning with only minor changes to uniform elongation and ultimate tensile strength, and the initial microstructure is free of chemically ordered (Al,Ti)-rich precipitates after solutionizing and quenching.
Journal ArticleDOI
A “local” stacking fault energy model for concentrated alloys
TL;DR: In this paper , a simple bond energy model is proposed to predict the average stacking fault energy (SFE) in concentrated solid-solution alloys, which is approximated by the energy difference of relevant bulk phases for which bond energies are determined.
