Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of hexamethylene diisocyanate exposure on human airway epithelial cells: in vitro cellular and molecular studies.

TL;DR: The finding that HDI exposure increases thioredoxin reductase expression supports previous studies suggesting thatHDI alters thiol-redox homeostasis, an important sensor of cellular stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diisocyanate-exposed auto body shop workers: a one-year follow-up.

TL;DR: The differences in workers who stayed at their shop compared to those who left, combined with the low asthma prevalence and high job turnover rate, all suggest that a healthy worker effect may exist in the auto body industry, and may in part account for the low prevalence of asthma noted in SPRAY and other cross-sectional studies of diisocyante workers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations in the Vanguard population of the Carotene and Retinol Efficacy Trial (CARET)

TL;DR: The differences in cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations between the groups following randomization may account in part for the unexpected excess in cardiovascular deaths seen in the active intervention arm of CARET.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biomonitoring Hexamethylene Diisocyanate (HDI) Exposure Based on Serum Levels of HDI-Specific IgG

TL;DR: Hexamethylene diisocyanate-specific immune responses (IgG) provide a practical biomarker to aid in exposure surveillance and ongoing industrial hygiene efforts and may supplement current air sampling approaches.
