Journal ArticleDOI

Exploration of the Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitory Activity of Some Alkaloids from Amaryllidaceae Family by Molecular Docking In Silico

TL;DR: The present results support the idea that alkaloids reported in this research are capable of interacting with rhAChE-binding sites, and help to clarify the role of cholinergic neurotransmission in Alzheimer's disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of the genotoxic potential of the alkaloid boldine in mammalian cell systems in vitro and in vivo.

TL;DR: Boldine is an alkaloid present in Peumus boldus which has healing properties and is used for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and did not induce a statistically significant increase in the frequency of chromosome aberrations or SCEs in either test system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clastogenic effect of ethanol in chronic and abstinent alcoholics.

TL;DR: Chronic ethanol intoxication can lead to chromosome damage and disturbances in the metabolism of endogenous and exogenous compounds, which may persist for a long time, and constitute a relevant factor of risk for the development of neoplasias.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of mutagenic effect of the antihypertensive drug methyldopa (Aldomet) on mammalian systems in vivo and in vitro and on Allium cepa.

TL;DR: The antihypertensive drug methyldopa (Aldomet) was tested for possible clastogenic activity on normal and hypertensive rats and on human lymphocyte cultures and for its influence on the cell cycle of Allium cepa and showed a toxic effect on A. cepA root tip cells.
