Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental enrichment in BALB/c mice: effects in classical tests of anxiety and exposure to a predatory odor.

TL;DR: The results show that EC mice were more active than SC mice in the elevated plus maze and the open field, and reactivity to a novel environment was reduced in EC mice, indicating that classical and ethoexperimental-based tests measure different aspects of emotional reactivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serotonin-induced stimulation of cortisol secretion from human adrenocortical tissue is mediated through activation of a serotonin4 receptor subtype.

TL;DR: Results suggest that serotonin, locally released by intra-adrenal mast-like cells, may act as a paracrine factor to stimulate cortisol secretion in man and indicate that serotonin-induced corticosteroid production is mediated through activation of a serotonin4 receptor subtype positively coupled to adenylate cyclase.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro study of frog (Rana ridibunda Pallas) interrenal function by use of a simplified perifusion system. II. Influence of adrenocorticotropin upon aldosterone production.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that, in frogs, output of aldosterone is two times higher than output of corticosterone, and the ald testosterone-corticosterone ratio is even larger after stimulation by high doses of ACTH.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vasopressin-responsive adrenocortical tumor in a mild Cushing's syndrome: in vivo and in vitro studies.

TL;DR: The direct effect of AVP on cultured tumor cells was mediated through the V1 type of vasopressin receptor, similar to that previously characterized in normal human fasciculata cells, suggesting that the tumor expressed an eutopic V1 AVP receptor and exhibited overresponsiveness to AVP.
Journal ArticleDOI

Benzamide derivatives provide evidence for the involvement of a 5-HT4 receptor type in the mechanism of action of serotonin in frog adrenocortical cells.

TL;DR: Results indicate that the stimulatory effect of 5- HT on frog adrenocortical tissue is mediated by activation of a 5-HT4 receptor subtype positively coupled to adenylate cyclase.
