Physiological effects of micro-plastics on the red algae, Grateloupia turuturu and Chondrus sp.
TL;DR: In this paper , the effects of micro-plastics on two species of red algae: Grateloupia turuturu and Chondrus sp. were investigated and the results showed that the toxicity of microplastics appeared to be species specific, dependent on the adherence capacity of macroalgae.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dark treatment effect on the carrageenan characterization in a red alga, Chondrus crispus
TL;DR: In this paper , a 20-day dark treatment was used for carrageenan extraction in Chondrus crispus, which is known to be an eco-friendly alternative to the alkali treatment for gel quality and yield improvements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of different artificial photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) sources and intensity on the growth and nutrient uptake in Ulva prolifera and Neopyropia yezoensis
TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of two types of fluorescent lamps (T8 and T5) and white LED lamp on the growth, photosynthesis, and nutrient uptake rates of Neopyropia yezoensis and Ulva prolifera under three photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) conditions (80, 150 and 300 μmol photon m2 s−1).
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative transcriptome analysis reveals the molecular mechanism of heat-tolerance in Neopyropia yezoensis induced by Sargassum horneri extract
TL;DR: In this article , a newly developed biostimulant, Sargassum horneri extract (SHE), can enhance the heat-tolerance in Neopyropia yezoensis, which can be applied in the seaweed aquaculture.
