This study aims to investigate the relationships between service quality, perceived value, satisfaction, and behavioral intentions for air passengers through a structural equation model (SEM). The main study’s results are as follows. Service expectation has a significantly positive effect on perceived performance, but not on perceived value and satisfaction. Perceived performance has a significantly positive effect on perceived value, but not on satisfaction. Perceived value has a significantly positive effect on satisfaction. Both perceived value and satisfaction have significantly positive effects on behavioral intentions. In addition, perceived performance reveals the indirect effect on satisfaction moderated by perceived value. Finally, perceived value reveals a larger effect than overall satisfaction on behavioral intentions. Specific theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

Investigating structural relationships between service quality, perceived value, satisfaction, and behavioral intentions for air passengers: Evidence from Taiwan

This paper reviews studies from the past 30 years that use operations research methods to tackle containership routing and scheduling problems at the strategic, tactical, and operational planning levels. These problems are first classified and summarized, with a focus on model formulations, assumptions, and algorithm design. The paper then gives an overview of studies on containership fleet size and mix, alliance strategy, and network design at the strategic level; frequency determination, fleet deployment, speed optimization, and schedule design at the tactical level; and container booking and routing and ship rescheduling at the operational level. The paper further elaborates on the needs of the liner container shipping industry and notes the gap between existing academic studies and industrial practices. Research on containership routing and scheduling lags behind practice, especially in the face of the fast growth of the container shipping industry and the advancement of operations research and computer technology. The purpose of this paper is to stimulate more practically relevant research in this emerging area.

Containership Routing and Scheduling in Liner Shipping: Overview and Future Research Directions

The effect of airline service quality on passengers' behavioural intentions: a Korean case study

This article investigates how perceived price, airline service quality, perceived value, passenger satisfaction and airline image determine passengers' future behavioural intentions. To test the conceptual framework, structural equation modelling using a maximum likelihood estimator was applied to data collected from Australian international air passengers. It was found that there were significant relationships between the variables except for three paths. The three insignificant paths were the relationship between 'perceived price and passenger satisfaction', 'service quality and airline image' and 'perceived value and airline image'. Perceived price, perceived value, passenger satisfaction, and airline image were each found to have a direct effect on passengers' future behavioural intentions.

Modelling the Impact of Airline Service Quality and Marketing Variables on Passengers’ Future Behavioural Intentions

For reasons of tractability, the airline scheduling problem has traditionally been sequentially decomposed into various stages (e.g., schedule generation, fleet assignment, aircraft routing, and crew pairing), with the decisions from one stage imposed upon the decision making process in subsequent stages. Although this approach greatly simplifies the solution process, it unfortunately fails to capture the many dependencies between the various stages, most notably between those of aircraft routing and crew pairing, and how these dependencies affect the propagation of delays through the flight network. Because delays are commonly transferred between late running aircraft and crew, it is important that aircraft routing and crew pairing decisions are made together. The propagated delay may then be accurately estimated to minimize the overall propagated delay for the network and produce a robust solution for both aircraft and crew. In this paper we introduce a new approach to accurately calculate and minimize the cost of propagated delay in a framework that integrates aircraft routing and crew pairing.
