Journal ArticleDOI

Usefulness of red cell distribution width as a prognostic marker in pulmonary hypertension.

TL;DR: Red blood cell distribution width is independently associated with death in patients with PH and performs better as a prognostic indicator than N-terminal-pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT- pro-BNP).
Journal ArticleDOI

Radial artery pulse pressure variation correlates with brachial artery peak velocity variation in ventilated subjects when measured by internal medicine residents using hand-carried ultrasound devices.

TL;DR: The HCU Doppler assessment of the brachial artery blood flow velocity as performed by internal medicine residents is a rapid, noninvasive bedside correlate to DeltaPP, and a DeltaVpeak-BA cutoff of 16% may prove useful as a point-of-care tool for the prediction of volume responsiveness in patients receiving mechanical ventilation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Left ventricular mass from gated SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging: Comparison with cardiac computed tomography

TL;DR: Using CTA as the reference standard, the mean SPECT LVM values are similar, but lower values are overestimated and higher values are underestimated, and the SPECT values are not substitutable for CTA without mathematical correction.
