Journal ArticleDOI

Colors and magnitudes predicted for high redshift galaxies

TL;DR: In this article, ultraviolet observations of nearby galaxies with the ANS were used to derive ultraviolet spectra for different galaxy types, and these spectra were used with existing visible spectrophotometry to calculate K-corrections, and to predict colors and magnitudes for various galaxy types as a function of redshifts, to z = 2.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intrinsic Absorption Lines in Seyfert 1 Galaxies. I. Ultraviolet Spectra from the Hubble Space Telescope

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a study of the intrinsic absorption lines in the ultraviolet spectra of Seyfert 1 galaxies and find that the fraction of galaxies that show intrinsic absorption associated with their active nuclei is more than one-half (10 of 17), which is much higher than previous estimates (3%-10%) based on IUE data.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spectral Synthesis in the Ultraviolet. IV. A Library of Mean Stellar Groups

TL;DR: In this paper, a library of mean UV stellar energy distributions is derived from IUE spectrophotometry of 218 stars, covering O3-M4 spectral types, and the spectra cover 1230-3200 A with a spectral resolution of about 6 A. They have been corrected for interstellar extinction and converted to a common flux and wavelength scale.
Journal ArticleDOI

IUE Spectra and photoionization models of the Seyfert 2 glaxies NGC 7674 and I Zw 92

TL;DR: In this article, the physical conditions in the narrow-line regions of two Seyfert 2 galaxies, NGC 7674 and I Zw 92, were examined using IUE spectra, published optical spectra and multifrequency observations, and photoionization models.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-velocity iron absorption lines in supernova remnant 1006

TL;DR: In this article, very strong, broad absorption lines of a sdOB star continuum shown in the International Ultraviolet Explorer spectrum of the Schweizer-Middleditch star projected near the center of supernova remnant SNR 1006 are investigated.
