MicroRNA160 Modulates Plant Development and Heat Shock Protein Gene Expression to Mediate Heat Tolerance in Arabidopsis

TL;DR: Transgenic Arabidopsis plants overexpressing miR160 improved seed germination and seedling survival under heat stress and altered the expression of the heat shock proteins and plant development to allow plants to survive heat stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

MicroR828 regulates lignin and H2O2 accumulation in sweet potato on wounding

TL;DR: Results showed that cGMP could regulate wounding-responsive miR828, which repressed the expression of IbMYB and IbTLD, and lignin and H2O2 were accumulated to participate in defense mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transgenic rice plants expressing the ferredoxin-like protein (AP1) from sweet pepper show enhanced resistance to Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae.

TL;DR: This paper used particle bombardment to cotransform mature seed-derived rice callus (Oryza sativa L., ssp. japonica, cv. Eyi 105) with plasmids containing the linked marker genes gusA and hpt, and the ap1 gene encoding an amphipathic protein previously shown to delay the hypersensitive response induced in non-host plants by the pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringaa (Pss).
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitric oxide activates superoxide dismutase and ascorbate peroxidase to repress the cell death induced by wounding.

TL;DR: The results indicate that NO may regulate H2O2 generation to affect cell death in wounded plants, and Copper/Zinc superoxide dismutases could be enhanced by NO.
