Journal ArticleDOI

Structural and functional analogues of the active sites of the [Fe]-, [NiFe]-, and [FeFe]-hydrogenases.

TL;DR: This article sets out to review the chemistry relating to the synthesis of structural and functional analogues of the three classes of hydrogenases, including the di-iron system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemistry and the hydrogenases

TL;DR: Can chemists design materials that replace the expensive platinum metal catalysts of fuel cells with metal-sulfur cluster assemblies utilising abundant Ni, Fe and S as in the natural systems?
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of the H-cluster framework of iron-only hydrogenase

TL;DR: The assembly of the iron-sulphur framework of the active site of iron-only hydrogenase (the H-cluster) is reported, and it is shown that it functions as an electrocatalyst for proton reduction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Iron-only hydrogenase: Synthetic, structural and reactivity studies of model compounds

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report progress in the chemistry of synthetic systems related to the active site of iron-only hydrogenase and present a review of the literature related to these systems.
Journal ArticleDOI

A di-iron dithiolate possessing structural elements of the carbonyl/cyanide sub-site of the H-centre of Fe-only hydrogenase

TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis and characterisation of the first {2Fe2S}-cluster bearing both CO and CN ligands is described; the iron atoms are linked by the bridging 1,3-propanedithiolate unit that has been identified in the crystallographic structure of the sub-unit of the H-centre of the all-iron hydrogenase from Desulfovibrio desulfuricans.
