Journal ArticleDOI

Feasibility of soil moisture monitoring with heated fiber optics

TL;DR: In this article, a fiber optic cable with an electrically conductive armoring was buried in variably saturated sand and heated via electrical resistance to create thermal pulses monitored by observing the distributed Raman backscatter.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical simulation of the paleohydrology of glacial Lake Oshkosh, eastern Wisconsin, USA

TL;DR: In this article, high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) and GIS methods are used to reconstruct the evolution of surface hydrology when a DEM deforms through time as predicted by a model of viscoelastic earth relaxation, the entire surface hydrologic system with its lakes, outlets, shorelines and rivers also evolves without requiring assumptions of outlet position.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of Infiltration Discharge as a Strategy to Meet Effluent Temperature Limits

TL;DR: In this article, the authors combine observed and simulated temperature data to assess the efficacy of using infiltration discharge to meet effluent temperature limits and demonstrate the long-term groundwater response to operation of a 5.5ha large-scale infiltration wetland system.
