Journal ArticleDOI
Disturbance detection and isolation by dynamic principal component analysis
TL;DR: This paper uses a well-known ‘time lag shift’ method to include dynamic behavior in the PCA model and demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed methodology on the Tennessee Eastman process simulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plant-wide control of the Tennessee Eastman problem
TL;DR: In this paper, the development and performance of four plantwide control structures for the Tennessee Eastman challenge problem is described. But the control structures are developed in a tiered fashion and without the use of a quantitative steady state or dynamic model of the process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamic simulator for a Model IV fluid catalytic cracking unit
TL;DR: In this article, a mechanistic dynamic simulator is presented for the reactor/regenerator section of a Model IV fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) for evaluating and teaching new and existing methods in system analysis, identification, control and on-line optimization.
Journal ArticleDOI
A changing grain size model for gas—solid reactions
Journal ArticleDOI
Systematic estimation of state noise statistics for extended Kalman filters
TL;DR: In this article, a Taylor series expansion of the nonlinear equations around the nominal parameter values is used to calculate the process noise covariance matrix for an extended Kalman filter (EKF), which can handle the model uncertainties and the effect of unmeasured disturbances.
