Journal ArticleDOI
Gas bubbles have controversial effects on Taylor flow electrochemistry
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of gas bubbles on flow electrochemistry were investigated and it was shown that the larger the bubble, the higher the energy losses and the less efficient the reactor is used.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new role for reduction in pressure drop in cyclones using computational fluid dynamics techniques
Dirceu Noriler,A. A. Vegini,Cíntia Soares,António André Chivanga Barros,Henry França Meier,Milton Mori +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new mechanical device to improve the gas flow in cyclones by pressure drop reduction is presented and discussed, which consists of a tube with two gas inlets in an appositive spiral flux that produces a sudden reduction in the tangential velocity peak responsible for practically 80 % of the pressure drop.
Journal ArticleDOI
UHMWPE/HA biocomposite compatibilized by organophilic montmorillonite: An evaluation of the mechanical-tribological properties and its hemocompatibility and performance in simulated blood fluid.
Domingos Lusitâneo Pier Macuvele,Guilherme Colla,Karina Cesca,Luiz Fernando Belchior Ribeiro,César Edil da Costa,Janaína Nones,Everton Rafael Breitenbach,Luismar Marques Porto,Cíntia Soares,Márcio Antônio Fiori,Humberto Gracher Riella +10 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the addition of 10 wt% of organophilic bentonite improved the interface between the UHMWPE and HA by exfoliation/intercalation, presenting the best results of modulus of elasticity, tensile strength, coefficient of friction and rate of wear.
Journal ArticleDOI
CFD + DoE optimization of a flat plate photocatalytic reactor applied to NOx abatement
TL;DR: In this article, the optimization of a flat plate photocatalytic reactor through a computational framework coupling CFD, taking into account the radiation field modeling, and design of experiments (DoE), is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin functionalization of TiO2 doped with lanthanum: characterization and enhancement of photocatalytic activity
Gustavo Lopes Colpani,Jessica Taísa Zanetti,Fabiele Cecchin,Adrieli T.O. Dal’Toé,Márcio Antônio Fiori,Regina de Fátima Peralta Muniz Moreira,Cíntia Soares +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the surface functionalization with carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (CMCD) of lanthanum-doped TiO2 nanoparticles was proposed to increase their photocatalytic activity for the degradation of organic molecules.
