Excitatory-inhibitory balance modulates the formation and dynamics of neuronal assemblies in cortical networks

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the effect of perturbations on the formation of neuronal ensembles in large-scale cortical networks composed of excitatory and inhibitory neurons.

Long-Term Plasticity, Biophysical Models.

TL;DR: Connections between neurons are called synapses, and their strength is defined as the voltage amplitude, or slope, of a postsynpatic neuron response to a presynaptic action potential.

Latent Representations in Hippocampal Network Model Co-Evolve with Behavioral Exploration of Task Structure

Ian Cone, +1 more
- 24 Apr 2023 -
TL;DR: In this article , a biophysically plausible model comprised of a recurrent hippocampal network and an action network is presented, in which the latent representational structure co-evolves with behavior in a task-dependent manner.

Does the Zebra Finch Mating Song Circuit Use Spike Times Efficiently

TL;DR: The results show that neural circuits can use precisely timed spikes to encode signals with a higher-order accuracy than a conventional rate code, and circuits with precisely timed and reliably emitted spikes increase their encoding accuracy linearly with network size, which is the hallmark signature of an efficient code.
