Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery Provokes Alzheimer's Disease-Like Changes in the Cerebrospinal Fluid
András Palotás,Helton José Reis,Gábor Bogáts,Barna Babik,Mihály Racsmány,Mihály Racsmány,Linda Engvau,Eva Kecskeméti,Anna Juhász,Luciene B. Vieira,Antônio Lúcio Teixeira,Marat A Mukhamedyarovi,Albert A. Rizvanov,Albert A. Rizvanov,Albert A. Rizvanov,Mehmet Emir Yalvaç,Melissa M. Guimarães,Cláudia N. Ferreira,Andrey L. Zefirov,Andrey P. Kiyasov,Lan Wang,Zoltán Janka,János Kálmán +22 more
TL;DR: Findings clearly demonstrate post-surgical cognitive impairment associated with changes in biomarkers similar to that seen in Alzheimer's disease, suggesting a unifying pathognomic factor between the two disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thrombin generation assays for global evaluation of the hemostatic system: perspectives and limitations
Rita Carolina Figueiredo Duarte,Cláudia N. Ferreira,Danyelle Romana Alves Rios,Helton José Reis,Maria das Graças Carvalho +4 more
TL;DR: The thrombin generation test has great clinical potential, and will contribute to a better understanding and evaluation of overall hemostatic processes; however, this method still requires standardization and clinical validation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vitamin D receptor polymorphisms and the polycystic ovary syndrome: A systematic review
Guilherme Victor Oliveira Pimenta dos Reis,Natália Alves Gontijo,Kathryna Fontana Rodrigues,Michelle Teodoro Alves,Cláudia N. Ferreira,Karina Braga Gomes +5 more
TL;DR: An up‐to‐date review about vitamin D receptor polymorphisms and their association with PCOS is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome as a systemic disease with multiple molecular pathways: a narrative review.
Laura M. L. Carvalho,Fernando M. Reis,Ana L. Candido,Fernanda F. C. Nunes,Cláudia N. Ferreira,Karina Braga Gomes +5 more
TL;DR: Some molecular pathways associated with PCOS that could contribute to the better understanding about this syndrome are discussed to clarify some aspects of PCOS pathogenesis and inspire new strategies to prevent the syndrome as well as treat its symptoms and mitigate the risk of long-term complications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative study of apolipoprotein-E polymorphism and plasma lipid levels in dyslipidemic and asymptomatic subjects, and their implication in cardio/cerebro-vascular disorders.
Cláudia N. Ferreira,Maria da Gloria Carvalho,Ana Paula Salles Moura Fernandes,Luciana Moreira Lima,Andréia A. Loures-Valle,Julizar Dantas,Zoltán Janka,András Palotás,Marinez O. Sousa +8 more
TL;DR: The allelic frequencies of apoE epsilon2, ePSilon3 and epsilus4 were similar in dyslipidemic and normo-lipidic subjects, suggesting that apo E polymorphisms have no effect on plasma lipid-lipoprotein levels in dys Lipoproteins as biomarkers to predict adverse cardio-vascular and/or neuro-psychiatric maladies.
