Journal ArticleDOI
Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery Provokes Alzheimer's Disease-Like Changes in the Cerebrospinal Fluid
András Palotás,Helton José Reis,Gábor Bogáts,Barna Babik,Mihály Racsmány,Mihály Racsmány,Linda Engvau,Eva Kecskeméti,Anna Juhász,Luciene B. Vieira,Antônio Lúcio Teixeira,Marat A Mukhamedyarovi,Albert A. Rizvanov,Albert A. Rizvanov,Albert A. Rizvanov,Mehmet Emir Yalvaç,Melissa M. Guimarães,Cláudia N. Ferreira,Andrey L. Zefirov,Andrey P. Kiyasov,Lan Wang,Zoltán Janka,János Kálmán +22 more
TL;DR: Findings clearly demonstrate post-surgical cognitive impairment associated with changes in biomarkers similar to that seen in Alzheimer's disease, suggesting a unifying pathognomic factor between the two disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Elevated levels of inflammatory biomarkers in the cerebrospinal fluid after coronary artery bypass surgery are predictors of cognitive decline
János Kálmán,Anna Juhász,Gábor Bogáts,Barna Babik,Ágnes Rimanóczy,Zoltán Janka,Botond Penke,András Palotás +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that a regulated immune response may participate in developing adverse neurologic events and complications following cardiac interventions, and cytokines in the cerebrospinal fluid may serve as specific biomarkers and predictors of developing cognitive decline after coronary surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in respiratory mechanics during cardiac surgery.
TL;DR: The results indicate a significant and heterogeneous airway narrowing during CPB, which was counteracted by the administration of DA, and the mild deterioration in tissue mechanics, reflecting partial closure of the airways, may be a consequence of the anesthesia itself.
Journal ArticleDOI
Airway and tissue mechanics in anesthetized paralyzed children
Ferenc Peták,Barna Babik,Tibor Asztalos,Graham L. Hall,Zoltán I. Deák,Peter D. Sly,Zoltán Hantos,Zoltán Hantos +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that anesthesia‐paralysis provides an ideal condition for the measurement of low‐frequency forced oscillatory impedance and its partitioning into airway and tissue components in mechanically ventilated children.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of microvascular circulation on peripheral lung stability
Ferenc Peták,Barna Babik,Zoltán Hantos,Denis R. Morel,Jean-Claude Pache,Catherine Biton,Béla Suki,Walid Habre +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the physiological pressure in the pulmonary capillaries is an important mechanical factor in the maintenance of the stability of the alveolar architecture.
