Imaging Brain Function with Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy in Unconstrained Environments.
Joana Bisol Balardin,Guilherme Augusto Zimeo Morais,Rogério Akira Furucho,Lucas R. Trambaiolli,Patricia Vanzella,Claudinei E. Biazoli,João Ricardo Sato +6 more
TL;DR: The results expand upon previous research on the feasibility and robustness of fNIRS to monitor brain hemodynamic changes in different real life settings and show illustrative applications for practicing a sport, playing a musical instrument alone or in duo and performing daily activities for many hours.
Journal ArticleDOI
Commentary: Functional connectome fingerprint: identifying individuals using patterns of brain connectivity.
Claudinei E. Biazoli,Claudinei E. Biazoli,Giovanni Abrahão Salum,Giovanni Abrahão Salum,Pedro Mario Pan,Pedro Mario Pan,André Zugman,André Zugman,Edson Amaro,Luis Augusto Rohde,Luis Augusto Rohde,Euripedes Constantino Miguel,Euripedes Constantino Miguel,Andrea Parolin Jackowski,Andrea Parolin Jackowski,Rodrigo A. Bressan,Rodrigo A. Bressan,João Ricardo Sato +17 more
TL;DR: This research presents a novel and scalable approach called “Smart phones” that allows for real-time decision-making in the rapidly changing environment and helps clarify the role of emotion in human development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beyond the target area: an integrative view of tDCS-induced motor cortex modulation in patients and athletes
Edgard Morya,Edgard Morya,Kátia Monte-Silva,Marom Bikson,Zeinab Esmaeilpour,Claudinei E. Biazoli,André Fonseca,André Fonseca,Tommaso Bocci,Faranak Farzan,Raaj Chatterjee,Jeffrey M. Hausdorff,Daniel Gomes da Silva Machado,Daniel Gomes da Silva Machado,Andre R. Brunoni,Eva Mezger,Luciane Aparecida Moscaleski,Luciane Aparecida Moscaleski,Rodrigo Pegado,João Ricardo Sato,Marcelo S. Caetano,Katia Nunes Sá,Clarice Tanaka,Li Min Li,Abrahão Fontes Baptista,Alexandre Hideki Okano +25 more
TL;DR: This study presents the use and perspectives of new developments in tDCS technology, namely high-definition tDCS (HD-tDCS) which promises to overcome one of the main tDCS limitation (i.e., low focality) and its application for neurological disease, pain relief, and motor learning/rehabilitation.
Journal ArticleDOI
The supragenual nucleus: a putative relay station for ascending vestibular signs to head direction cells.
TL;DR: The present findings serve to clarify how vestibular inputs reach the HD cell-related circuit and point out the supragenual nucleus as an important interface to this end.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-neuronal evoked and spontaneous hemodynamic changes in the anterior temporal region of the human head may lead to misinterpretations of functional near-infrared spectroscopy signals.
Guilherne Augusto Zimeo Morais,Felix Scholkmann,Joana Bisol Balardin,Rogério Akira Furucho,Renan Costa Vieira de Paula,Claudinei E. Biazoli,João Ricardo Sato +6 more
TL;DR: By assessing the correlation between [O2Hb] and [HHb] in task-evoked activity as well as resting-state data, it is identified a spatial dependency of non-neuronal hemodynamic changes in the anterior temporal region of the human head that supports the importance of reporting and discussing fNIRS outcomes obtained with both chromophores.
