Purification and characterization of a lectin from seeds of Vatairea macrocarpa duke

TL;DR: A lectin from Vatairea macrocarpa Duke seeds (VML) was isolated using affinity chromatography on a guar gum column and size-exclusion chromatography indicated that VML is predominantly a dimeric protein, although tetramers and larger aggregates were also present.

LECTIN FROM Dioclea guianensis var. lasiophylla Duke SEEDS MOBILIZATION DURING GERMINATION AND SEEDLING GROWTH IN THE DARK

TL;DR: It was found a delay in lectin mobilization in comparison with the other seed proteins, and it can speculate that D. guianensis and other legume lectins that exhibit this behavior may, play some important although unknown function during germination and seedling establishment such as plant protection against predators and pathogenic microrganisms.
