As the Internet provides massive amounts of heterogeneous information, people may perceive this medium as challenging. The difficulty to evaluate and select relevant information increases as more and more diverse sources and content are available. Information overload (IO) may be the consequence. The research presented here gives a first comprehensive overview of possible indicators for IO in the context of online news exposure. Based on an online survey (N=419), we found that younger people with less information-seeking self-efficacy were more susceptible to experience IO. Additionally, we identified motivations for media consumption and information retrieval strategies in the Internet that imply IO. With our results, we contribute to a further understanding of IO and provide an important basis for future research needed to face the challenges resulting from the rising media diversity.

Too much information? Predictors of information overload in the context of online news exposure

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influential factors on behavioral intentions toward Islamic financial technology (FinTech) use in Indonesia, for all types of FinTech services as follows: payments, peer to peer lending and crowdfunding.,This study adopted structural equation modeling using the partial least squares approach to test the hypotheses. Based on purposive sampling, the questionnaire was distributed through an online survey and received 1,262 responses.,The results demonstrate that the latent variables, planned behavior, acceptance model and use of technology, have a significant impact on encouraging behavioral intentions to use Islamic FinTech. The “acceptance model” latent variable is the most influential factor.,This study was conducted only in Indonesia; therefore, the results cannot be generalized to other countries. However, the study provides important strategic guidelines for policymakers in designing a framework to enhance the development of Islamic FinTech and to achieve financial inclusion. It is suggested that future studies include samples from FinTech users in different countries.,This study adds to the literature especially on the factors affecting behavioral intentions to use Islamic FinTech. There are limited studies concerning this topic, especially for Indonesia. The unique feature of this study is the use of a large primary data set that covers most provinces in Indonesia. Furthermore, this study focuses on three types of Islamic FinTech, namely, payments, peer to peer lending and crowdfunding.

Factors determining behavioral intentions to use Islamic financial technology: Three competing models

This study aims at analyzing the factors affecting the consumer's willingness to pay for health and wellness food products in India, based on the primary consumer survey of 218 respondents. A structured questionnaire survey was administered using a stratified random sampling technique. The Poisson Count Regression Model (PCRM) has been used to analyse the factors affecting the willingness to pay for health and wellness food products. The analysis reveals that 44 percent of the consumers are willing to pay an average of 9 percent additional price for buying their desired health and wellness food products. Results of regression analysis show that important demographic variables that are more likely to affect the consumers' willingness to pay for healthy food products are income and education. Health consciousness is the key psychological factor of the buyers influencing their willingness to pay for purchasing followed by product quality, taste, packaging, price, and consumers look for convenience in shopping and are less influenced by market offerings and sales assistance in the store while buying health and wellness food products. This study provides practical insight to various stakeholders and helps in mapping the factors affecting the willingness to pay for purchasing health and wellness food products.

Impact of positivity and empathy on social entrepreneurial intention: The moderating role of perceived social support

Road infrastructure and transportation networks play a major role in development of a country’s economy and local residents. In Pakistan, such dependence has led to major investments in road construction with the mega-project China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Using social exchange theory, this study investigates residents’ attitudes toward CPEC development in Pakistan. Primary data used in this research study has been collected from 286 residents of Pakistan through an online survey. The local community’s support of CPEC in Pakistan was investigated by using several parameters, including the community’s personal benefit, satisfaction, and perceived effects (positive and negative). Findings of this study indicate that the local community’s personal benefit is a strong predictor for support of CPEC development, while satisfaction and positive effects mediate the relationship between personal benefits related to CPEC and support for CPEC development. However, the perceived negative effect of CPEC has not shown a significant relationship with support for CPEC development. Results of this study may help CPEC policymakers understand the local community’s perceptions, gain local community support for the CPEC route, and design policies accordingly for future development.

The book starts off brilliantly with an array of examples from everyday life. An interesting inference is made using the doctor–patient example. The doctor offers a sick patient a choice of different treatments, stating the risks and benefits for each one of them. If one looks at this situation very carefully, what is actually happening is that the burden of such an important decision is being shifted from the doctor to the patient, that is, from someone who is more informed to someone who has only a vague idea. Herein lays the question: Do these choices actually make us better off? Experiments and surveys have discovered that multiple choices rarely make consumers better off; rather, they go back to the same position, if not worse off.
