Method for Fingerprinting Yeast Cell Wall Mannans
Jan Kocourek,Clinton E. Ballou +1 more
TL;DR: Controlled acetolysis of yeast mannans yields mixtures of oligosaccharides with (1-->2) and (1 -->3) linkages between the mannose units, whereas the less stable linkages of the polysaccharide backbone are cleaved.
Book ChapterDOI
Structure and Biosynthesis of the Mannan Component of the Yeast Cell Envelope
TL;DR: The chapter discusses the detailed structures of specific yeast mannans, and investigates the enzymic processes involved in mannan synthesis, using cell-free extracts and following incorporation of radioactive mannose into endogenous and exogenous acceptors.
Book ChapterDOI
Isolation, characterization, and properties of Saccharomyces cerevisiae mnn mutants with nonconditional protein glycosylation defects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of the Carbohydrate Fragments Obtained from Saccharomyces cerevisiae Mannan by Alkaline Degradation
TL;DR: Methylation analysis demonstrated that fragments of mannose-containing polysaccharide of the mannan are attached to glucosamine, and it is probable that the linkage to protein is through a di-N-acetylchitobiose to asparagine as in many other glycoproteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Studies on the enzyme enolase. I. Equilibrium studies.
