Journal ArticleDOI
Thrombosis of a flexible coil coronary stent: frequency, predictors and clinical outcome.
F.Colin Nath,David W.M. Muller,Stephen G. Ellis,Uri Rosenschein,Anthony T. Chapekis,Laura Quain,Connie A. Zimmerman,Eric J. Topol +7 more
TL;DR: Early thrombosis after coronary stenting was relatively common, occurring predominantly in eccentric lesions and in patients with unstable angina pectoris, and may be reduced by more intensive anticoagulation yet, in a delicate balance, can be precipitated by inadequate heparin therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intracoronary stenting compared with conventional therapy for abrupt vessel closure complicating coronary angioplasty. A matched case-control study
A. Michael Lincoff,Eric J. Topol,Anthony T. Chapekis,Anthony T. Chapekis,Barry S. George,Barry S. George,Richard J. Candela,Richard J. Candela,David W.M. Muller,David W.M. Muller,Connie A. Zimmerman,Connie A. Zimmerman,Stephen G. Ellis +12 more
TL;DR: Early treatment of established vessel closure by intracoronary stenting was associated with a low incidence of both myocardial Infarction and emergency bypass surgery, and the likelihood or severity of infarction was not reduced among those in whom stents were implanted later.
