Layering of a liquid metal in contact with a hard wall

TL;DR: In this article, the results of an X-ray scattering study of liquid gallium metal in contact with a (111) diamond surface were presented, showing that there is a pronounced layering in the liquid density profile which decays exponentially with increasing distance from the wall.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self-assembly of organic films on a liquid metal

TL;DR: In this paper, the structure and phase behavior of organic thin films are investigated on the surface of liquid mercury, and it is shown that the strong interaction of the thiol group with the underlying disordered liquid dominates over the order-promoting interactions of the alkyl chains.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photon correlation spectroscopy of colloidal palladium using a coherent x-ray beam

TL;DR: This experiment shows that XPCS can be performed in a wide time range and opens up a new opportunity for the study of the dynamics of nontransparent media.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coherent Propagation of X Rays in a Planar Waveguide with a Tunable Air Gap

TL;DR: In this article, a multimode waveguide of x rays having an air gap as the guiding medium was made and individual transverse electric modes were found to propagate through the planar waveguide with essentially no attenuation and with negligible scattering losses to other modes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamics and correlations in magnetic colloidal systems studied by X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the static and dynamic behavior of magnetic colloidal systems (ferrofluids) by Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) and Xray Photon Correlation Spectroscopy (XPCS) was studied.
