Journal ArticleDOI
A reduction in CD90 (THY-1) expression results in increased differentiation of mesenchymal stromal cells
Daniela Abreu de Moraes,Tatiana Tais Sibov,Lorena Favaro Pavon,Paula Queiroz Alvim,Raphael Severino Bonadio,Jaqueline Rodrigues da Silva,Aline Pic-Taylor,Orlando Ayrton de Toledo,Luciana Cavalheiro Marti,Ricardo Bentes Azevedo,D. M. Oliveira +10 more
TL;DR: A reduction in CD90 expression enhances the osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of MSCs in vitro and, unexpectedly, causes a decrease in CD44 and CD166 expression, supporting the idea that CD90 level manipulation may lead to more efficient differentiation rates in vitro.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mesenchymal stem cells from umbilical cord blood: parameters for isolation, characterization and adipogenic differentiation
Tatiana Tais Sibov,Patrícia Severino,Luciana Cavalheiro Marti,Lorena Favaro Pavon,D. M. Oliveira,Patricia Renovato Tobo,Alexandre Holthausen Campos,Angela Tavares Paes,Edson Amaro,Lionel Fernel Gamarra,Carlos Alberto Moreira-Filho +10 more
TL;DR: A group of parameters that may help with successful isolation of mesenchymal stem cells and characterization of the differentiated/undifferentiated status of UCB-MSCs are identified, which will be useful to monitor the differentiation commitment of UCb-MSC and further facilitate the application of those cells in stem-cell therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of the binding constant and stoichiometry of biocompatible cobalt ferrite-based magnetic fluids to serum albumin
Antonio Claudio Tedesco,D. M. Oliveira,Zulmira G. M. Lacava,Ricardo Bentes Azevedo,Emília Celma de Oliveira Lima,Paulo C. Morais +5 more
TL;DR: This work investigated the interaction between citrate-coated cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (CiCo) and serum albumin proteins (BSA), through the fluorescence quenching of the BSA tryptophan residue after the binding of CiCo to specific sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of stem cell properties of cells isolated from normal and inflamed dental pulps.
Luciana Oliveira Pereira,M. R. Rubini,Jaqueline Rodrigues da Silva,D. M. Oliveira,Izabel Cristina Rodrigues da Silva,M. J. Poças-Fonseca,Ricardo Bentes Azevedo +6 more
TL;DR: The morphology, proliferation rate and differentiation potential of DPSC-I were similar to the observed in DPSC -N, thus demonstrating that the inflammatory process did not affect the stem cell properties that were assessed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Yerba Maté (Ilex paraguariensis) Aqueous Extract Decreases Intestinal SGLT1 Gene Expression but Does Not Affect Other Biochemical Parameters in Alloxan-Diabetic Wistar Rats
D. M. Oliveira,H. S. Freitas,M F F Souza,Demétrius Paiva Arçari,Marcelo Lima Ribeiro,Patrícia de Oliveira Carvalho,Deborah H. M. Bastos +6 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that bioactive compounds present in yerba maté might be capable of interfering in glucose absorption, by decreasing SGLT1 expression.
