Journal ArticleDOI

Photoemission study of matrix isolated Cu atoms and clusters

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the ultraviolet photoemission spectra of Cu atoms and clusters isolated at 7 K in Ar, Kr, and Xe matrices using He I and He II radiation and showed that the relaxation of the np levels is dominated by the Cu clusters, yielding emission spectra similar to those from physisorbed noble gases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adsorption of molecular nitrogen on copper clusters and nickel films at 7 K

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the UV photoemission spectra of nitrogen matrices doped with Cu atoms and small clusters and found a surface N 2 species which experienced a rigid shift of about 1 eV to smaller binding energies and which they interpret in essence as physisorbed N 2.
