Particle dark matter: Evidence, candidates and constraints

TL;DR: The current status of particle dark matter, including experimental evidence and theoretical motivations, including direct and indirect detection techniques, is discussed in this paper. But the authors focus on neutralinos in models of supersymmetry and Kaluza-Klein dark matter in universal extra dimensions.
Journal ArticleDOI

On The Origin Of The Gamma Rays From The Galactic Center

Dan Hooper, +1 more
- 20 Dec 2011 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the morphology and spectrum of the gamma ray emission from the center of the Milky Way were studied using the Fermi Gamma Ray Space Telescope (FGSST) and the recently available Pass 7 ultraclean event class.

Possible Evidence For Dark Matter Annihilation In The Inner Milky Way From The Fermi Gamma Ray Space Telescope

TL;DR: In this article, the gamma rays observed by the Fermi Gamma Ray Space Telescope from the direction of the Galactic Center are well described by a dark matter annihilation scenario, and they find a good fit to the data for dark matter particles with a 25-30 GeV mass, an annihilation cross section of ~9x10^-26 cm^3/s, and that are distributed with a cusped halo profile within the inner kiloparsec of the Galaxy.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Baryonic Solution to the Missing Satellites Problem

TL;DR: In this article, a correction to the z = 0 subhalo masses from the high-resolution, dark matter-only Via Lactea II (VL2) simulation is applied, and the number of massive subhalos is dramatically reduced.
