Journal ArticleDOI
A 0.13 μm CMOS System-on-Chip for a 512 × 424 Time-of-Flight Image Sensor With Multi-Frequency Photo-Demodulation up to 130 MHz and 2 GS/s ADC
Cyrus Bamji,Patrick O'Connor,T.A. Elkhatib,Swati Mehta,Barry Thompson,Lawrence A. Prather,Dane Snow,Onur Can Akkaya,Andrew D. Daniel,Andrew Payne,Travis Perry,Mike Fenton,Vei-Han Chan +12 more
TL;DR: A 512 × 424 time-of-flight (TOF) depth image sensor designed in a TSMC 0.13 μm LP 1P5M CMOS process, suitable for use in Microsoft Kinect for XBOX ONE, shows wide depth range of operation, small accuracy error, very low depth uncertainty, and very high dynamic range.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
IMpixel 65nm BSI 320MHz demodulated TOF Image sensor with 3μm global shutter pixels and analog binning
Cyrus Bamji,Swati Mehta,Barry Thompson,T.A. Elkhatib,Stefan Wurster,Onur Can Akkaya,Andrew Payne,John Peter Godbaz,Mike Fenton,Vijay Rajasekaran,Larry Prather,Satya Nagaraja,Vishali Mogallapu,Dane Snow,Rich McCauley,Mustansir Y. Mukadam,Iskender Agi,Shaun M. McCarthy,Zhanping Xu,Travis Perry,William Qian,Vei-Han Chan,Prabhu Adepu,Gazi Ali,Muneeb Ahmed,Aditya Mukherjee,Sheethal Somesh Nayak,Dave Gampell,Sunil Acharya,Lou Kordus,Patrick O'Connor +30 more
TL;DR: The quest for accurate, high-resolution, low-power-consumption, and small-footprint 3D depth cameras has driven a rapid improvement in Continuous-Wave (CW) Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
7.6 A 512×424 CMOS 3D Time-of-Flight image sensor with multi-frequency photo-demodulation up to 130MHz and 2GS/s ADC
Andrew Payne,Andrew D. Daniel,Anik Mehta,Barry Thompson,Cyrus Bamji,Dane Snow,Hideaki Oshima,Larry Prather,Mike Fenton,Lou Kordus,Patrick O'Connor,Rich McCauley,Sheethal Somesh Nayak,Sunil Acharya,Swati Mehta,T.A. Elkhatib,Thomas Meyer,Tod O'Dwyer,Travis Perry,Vei-Han Chan,Vincent Wong,Vishali Mogallapu,William Qian,Zhanping Xu +23 more
TL;DR: This paper presents the pixel and 2GS/s signal paths in a state-of-the-art Time- of-Flight (ToF) sensor suitable for use in the latest Kinect sensor for Xbox One.
Patent
Power efficient laser diode driver circuit and method
TL;DR: In this article, an active swing controller is used to prevent inductive kickback from causing the output node voltage to swing above the voltage level at the voltage output of the power supply, or swing below ground.
Patent
Charge equalizing clock driver and other enhancements for time-of-flight depth sensing and other systems
Dane Snow,Barry Thompson +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the clock driver includes first and second enhanced inverters (inverters that cannot enter short-circuit current mode), and a transistor switch coupled between the inverter outputs, turning on the transistor switch forces charge equalization.
