Journal ArticleDOI
Small hepatocellular carcinoma in cirrhosis: randomized comparison of radio-frequency thermal ablation versus percutaneous ethanol injection.
Riccardo Lencioni,Hans Peter Allgaier,Dania Cioni,M. Olschewski,Peter Deibert,Laura Crocetti,Holger Frings,Joerg Laubenberger,Ina Zuber,Hubert E. Blum,Carlo Bartolozzi +10 more
TL;DR: RF ablation is superior to PEI with respect to local recurrence-free survival rates with multivariate analysis and prognostic value of treatment techniques was assessed with univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early-Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Patients with Cirrhosis: Long-term Results of Percutaneous Image-guided Radiofrequency Ablation
Riccardo Lencioni,Dania Cioni,Laura Crocetti,C. Franchini,Clotilde Della Pina,Jacopo Lera,Carlo Bartolozzi +6 more
TL;DR: RF ablation is an effective first-line treatment for cirrhotic patients with early-stage HCC who were excluded from surgery and who had Child class A or B cirrhosis with either a single HCC less than or equal to 5 cm in diameter or multiple (as many as three) HCCs less than and equal to 3cm in diameter each.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radio-frequency thermal ablation of liver metastases with a cooled-tip electrode needle: results of a pilot clinical trial.
Riccardo Lencioni,Orlando Goletti,N Armillotta,A Paolicchi,M. Moretti,Dania Cioni,Francescamaria Donati,A Cicorelli,Sergio Ricci,M Carrai,Pf Conte,Enrico Cavina,Carlo Bartolozzi +12 more
TL;DR: Radio-frequency thermal ablation with a cooled-tip electrode needle is a safe and effective local treatment for hepatic metastases 3 cm or less in greatest dimension and after a mean follow-up period of 6.5 months, 14 patients are currently free of disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tissue harmonic and contrast-specific imaging: back to gray scale in ultrasound
TL;DR: The physical principles, technical issues, and clinical applications of tissue harmonic and contrast-specific imaging are reviewed and it is foreseen that the new gray-scale US techniques will rapidly become a tool in numerous clinical scenarios.
Journal ArticleDOI
Percutaneous radiofrequency ablation of hepatic colorectal metastases: technique, indications, results, and new promises.
TL;DR: The technique, indications, clinical results, and future prospects of RF ablation in the therapeutic management of metastatic colorectal cancer patients are reviewed.
