TL;DR: In this article, the rates of hip fracture in subjects with knee osteoarthritis before and after having a total knee replacement (TKR), compared with matched controls, were described, and the increased risk was greatest in younger ages and in those without previous fracture.

TL;DR: Both death and hip fracture rates are increased (by 83% and 16%, respectively) in CKD patients, but the association between CKD and hip fractures is attenuated when an excess of mortality is taken into account.
