Journal ArticleDOI
Hormone replacement therapy and mid-term implant survival following knee or hip arthroplasty for osteoarthritis: a population-based cohort study
TL;DR: HRT use is associated with an almost 40% reduction in revision rates after a TKA/THA, and preoperative HRT appeared unrelated to implant survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fractures in users of antidepressants and anxiolytics and sedatives: effects of age and dose.
Peter Vestergaard,Daniel Prieto-Alhambra,Daniel Prieto-Alhambra,Daniel Prieto-Alhambra,Muhammad Javaid,Cyrus Cooper,Cyrus Cooper +6 more
TL;DR: Increasing age was associated with more fractures in users of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants, whereas for anxiolytics and sedatives, more fractures were seen among the younger users, and a hospital diagnosis of depression or manic depression was not a risk factor for fractures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vitamin D threshold to prevent aromatase inhibitor-related bone loss: the B-ABLE prospective cohort study
Daniel Prieto-Alhambra,Sonia Servitja,Sonia Servitja,Muhammad Javaid,L Garrigos,Nigel K Arden,Cyrus Cooper,Cyrus Cooper,Joan Albanell,Joan Albanell,Ignasi Tusquets,Ignasi Tusquets,Adolfo Diez-Perez,Xavier Nogués +13 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that improved vitamin D status using supplementation is associated with attenuation of AI-associated bone loss and the current Institute of Medicine target recommendation of 20 ng/ml might be too low to ensure good bone health.
Journal ArticleDOI
Drug utilization in patients with OA: a population-based study
Nathan J. Wilson,L Sanchez-Riera,Rosa Morros,Adolfo Diez-Perez,Muhammad Javaid,Cyrus Cooper,Nigel K Arden,Daniel Prieto-Alhambra +7 more
