Journal ArticleDOI

Multiple mechanisms control phosphorylation of PHAS-I in five (S/T)P sites that govern translational repression.

TL;DR: Control of the translational repressor, PHAS-I, was investigated by expressing proteins with Ser/Thr → Ala mutations in the five (S/T)P phosphorylation sites, which results in the most dramatic decreases in eIF4E binding in vitro.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance optimization of support vector machine with oppositional grasshopper optimization for acute appendicitis diagnosis

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors constructed a new intelligent diagnostic rule that is accurate, fast, noninvasive, and cost-effective, distinguishing between complicated and uncomplicated appendicitis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mutational analysis of sites in the translational regulator, PHAS-I, that are selectively phosphorylated by mTOR

TL;DR: Results obtained with PHAS‐I proteins having Ser to Ala mutations in the five known phosphorylation sites indicate that mTOR preferentially phosphorylates Thr36 and Thr45, indicating that results of studies that rely solely on a gel‐shift assay to assess changes in PHas‐I phosphorylated must be interpreted with caution.
