Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) dependence, withdrawal symptoms and craving in regular users.
TL;DR: The findings from this study show that regular Kratom use is associated with drug dependency, development of withdrawal symptoms, and craving that become more severe with prolonged use and suggest a stronger control of the drug.

TL;DR: It is concluded that the use of kratom is not negligible, especially for self-medication, and more clinical, pharmacological, and socioanthropological studies as well as a better international collaboration are needed to tackle this marginally explored phenomenon.

TL;DR: User reports and results of preclinical studies in animals strongly suggest that kratom and its main constituent alkaloid, mitragynine may have useful activity in alleviating pain and managing symptoms of opioid withdrawal, even though well-controlled clinical trials have yet to be done.
