Yowler,Barbara A. Latenser +22 more
TL;DR: The goal of the consensus conference was to develop and publish standardized definitions for sepsis and infection-related diagnoses in the burn population, which will improve the capability of performing more meaningful multicenter trials among burn centers.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Development of metrics for burn care, including healing of skin wounds during the acute phase of treatment, is essential in an environment of decreasing resources and increasing interest in quality and accuracy of medical information.
Journal ArticleDOI
The adjuvant effect of peritoneal fluid in experimental peritonitis. Mechanism and clinical implications.
TL;DR: The clinical relevance of these studies is manifold: they provide a possible explanation why patients with ascites due to cirrhosis or the nephrotic syndrome, or those patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis are more susceptible to primary and secondary bacterial peritonitis, possibly on the basis of impairedPeritoneal clearance or diminished phagocytosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Necrotizing soft-tissue infections.
TL;DR: A patient presents with minimal external manifestations of a deep surgical soft-tissue infection, but early aggressive intervention is required to minimize the morbidity in these often debilitated patients.
