TL;DR: If a woman knows that a smear test is e.g. minor procedure, she is much more likely to be motivated to have a repeat test in the future, and to advise her friends to go and have the same test.
Abstract: 3. When a smear test has been taken as a routine procedure, either in a surgery or more particularly in a public hospital clinic, it is important to inform the patient of this fact. This will eliminate some unnecessary visits for a smear test, and may also be a factor in setting a trend for the future for that patient. If a woman knows that a smear test is e. minor procedure, she Is much more likely to be motivated to have a repeat test in the future, and to advise her friends to go and have the same test.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the initiation of two types of superordinate goals in a highly competitive, nonzero-sum bargaining situation, and found that the first superordinate goal resolved the competition between the groups but in a way which, it is hypothesized, may lead to premature agreement, leaving the basic conflict of interests unresolved.
Abstract: The following is an exploratory study comparing the initiation of two types of superordinate goals in a highly competitive, nonzero-sum bargaining situation. One superordinate goal was introduced by a third party, was perceived by the participants as a natural event not linked to or created by the third party, and was not perceived by the bargainers in the conflict to be aimed at resolving the conflict. The other superordinate goal was initiated by one of the participants in the conflict, was identified with the initiator, and was perceived as being aimed at resolving the conflict. A variation of the standard intergroup conflict exercise was used for the study. The data indicate that the first type of superordinate goal resolved the competition between the groups but in a way which, it is hypothesized, may lead to premature agreement, leaving the basic conflict of interests unresolved. The second type of superordinate goal, on the other hand, became caught up in the competitiveness of the situation and inc...

TL;DR: The third mistake commonly made in trying to change the behavior of teachers is to assume that telling individuals that change is desirable will result in change as discussed by the authors, which will not usually lead to change in the desired way.
Abstract: major findings of the research of the 1940's on organization, for example, was that changes in the production process did not result in increased production (2). The third mistake commonly made in trying to change the behavior of teachers is to assume that telling individuals that change is desirable will result in change. To provide teachers with information that builds a strong case for the desirability of change will not usually lead them to change their behavior in the desired way. There are no simple answers to the problem of changing teachers' behavior. Teachers' behavior does not nec-

TL;DR: To the knowledge, there have been no reports of tetanus after prompt administration of human tetanus immune globulin, in the recommended dosage.
Abstract: To the Editor:— Prophylaxis of tetanus is best accomplished by active immunization with tetanus toxoid. In the unimmunized, prophylaxis can be passively accomplished with human tetanus immune globulin. The recommended dose of human tetanus immune globulin is 250 units given intramuscularly at the time of the injury.1To our knowledge, there have been no reports of tetanus after prompt administration of human tetanus immune globulin, in the recommended dosage. We report a case of tetanus following prompt administration of 250 units of human tetanus immune globulin. Report of a Case:— A 45-year-old white man dropped a railroad tie on his left hand. That day, the patient's physician sutured the wound and gave him 250 units of tetanus immune globulin intramuscularly. There was no history of active immunization for tetanus, prior injury, or past military service. Three days later gangrene developed in the fourth finger of the left hand and

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the problem of designing planar redundant trusses having fixed geometry and whose force distribution under applied loading may be adequately described by a linear analysis.
Abstract: The problem studied is that of designing planar redundant trusses having fixed geometry and whose force distribution under applied loading may be adequately described by a linear analysis. The flexibility approach is used and it is assumed that all internal forces are caused purely by the application of the external forces, the latter being independent of the design. The problem is to minimize an objective function equal to the product of a vector of group areas and a vector of the products of group cost coefficients and the total length of members contained within the group. For all cost coefficients equal to unity the objective function is the total volume of structural material required and it may be converted into a weight or cost function by a choice of suitable coefficients. The optimization is subject to no member stress or cross-sectional area exceeding its upper or lower bound, but no deflection constraints are considered.
