Differences in liver stiffness values obtained with new ultrasound elastography machines and Fibroscan: A comparative study
Fabio Piscaglia,Veronica Salvatore,L. Mulazzani,Vito Cantisani,Antonio Colecchia,Roberto Di Donato,Cristina Felicani,Alessia Ferrarini,N. Gamal,Valentina Grasso,Giovanni Marasco,Elena Mazzotta,Federico Ravaioli,Giacomo Ruggieri,Ilaria Serio,Joules Fabrice Sitouok Nkamgho,Carla Serra,Davide Festi,Cosima Schiavone,Luigi Bolondi +19 more
TL;DR: The present results showed only moderate concordance of the majority of elastography machines with the Fibroscan results, preventing the possibility of the immediate universal adoption of fibroscan thresholds for defining liver fibrosis staging for all new machines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liver and spleen stiffness and other noninvasive methods to assess portal hypertension in cirrhotic patients: a review of the literature
Antonio Colecchia,Giovanni Marasco,Martina Taddia,Lucia Montrone,Leonardo Henry Eusebi,Daniele Mandolesi,Ramona Schiumerini,Anna Rita Di Biase,Davide Festi +8 more
TL;DR: Serum markers, abdominal ultrasonography, and particularly liver and spleen stiffness measurement are critically evaluated, which represent the more promising methods to stage PH degree and to assess the presence/absence of esophageal varices (EV).
Journal ArticleDOI
Autoimmune liver diseases in a paediatric population with coeliac disease - a 10-year single-centre experience.
A. Di Biase,Antonio Colecchia,Eleonora Scaioli,R. Berri,L. Viola,Amanda Vestito,Fiorella Balli,Davide Festi +7 more
TL;DR: Gluten‐free diet (GFD) normalizes cryptogenic forms, but most likely not autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), for this condition, immunosuppressants represent the treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development, validation, and application of a single-tube radioimmunoassay for cholic and chenodeoxycholic conjugated bile acids in human serum.
TL;DR: The assay was shown to be specific, sensitive, accurate, and precise when used for serum samples from subjects and patients with increased bile acid in the serum because of liver disease, and results correlate well with those by gas chromatography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liver Stiffness Measurement Allows Early Diagnosis of Veno-Occlusive Disease/Sinusoidal Obstruction Syndrome in Adult Patients Who Undergo Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: Results from a Monocentric Prospective Study
Antonio Colecchia,Antonio Colecchia,Federico Ravaioli,Mariarosaria Sessa,Vanessa Luigina Alemanni,Elton Dajti,Giovanni Marasco,Amanda Vestito,Rocco Maurizio Zagari,Francesco Barbato,Mario Arpinati,Michele Cavo,Davide Festi,Francesca Bonifazi +13 more
TL;DR: LSM by TE can be considered a promising method to perform an early, preclinical diagnosis and follow-up of VOD/SOS, and Interestingly, LSM values did not increase significantly in patients experiencing hepatobiliary complications (according to the Common Terminology Criteria) other than VOD /SOS.
