Antilymphocyte globulin for prevention of chronic graft-versus-host disease
Kröger N,Carlos Solano,Christine Wolschke,Giuseppe Bandini,Francesca Patriarca,Massimo Pini,Arnon Nagler,Carmine Selleri,Carmine Selleri,Antonio M. Risitano,Giuseppe Messina,Wolfgang Bethge,Jaime Pérez De Oteiza,Rafael F. Duarte,Angelo Michele Carella,Michele Cimminiello,Stefano Guidi,Jürgen Finke,Nicola Mordini,Christelle Ferra,Jorge Sierra,Domenico Russo,Mario Petrini,Giuseppe Milone,Fabio Benedetti,Marion Heinzelmann,Domenico Pastore,Manuel Jurado,Elisabetta Terruzzi,Franco Narni,Andreas Völp,Francis Ayuk,Tapani Ruutu,Francesca Bonifazi +33 more
TL;DR: The inclusion of antihuman T-lymphocyte immune globulin (ATG) in a myeloablative conditioning regimen for patients with acute leukemia resulted in a significant reduction in chronic GVHD 2 years after allogeneic peripheral-blood stem-cell transplantation from an HLA-identical sibling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prophylaxis and management of graft versus host disease after stem-cell transplantation for haematological malignancies: updated consensus recommendations of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation
Olaf Penack,Monia Marchetti,Tapani Ruutu,Mahmoud Aljurf,Andrea Bacigalupo,Francesca Bonifazi,Fabio Ciceri,Jan J. Cornelissen,Ram Malladi,Rafael F. Duarte,Sebastian Giebel,Hildegard T. Greinix,Ernst Holler,Anita Lawitschka,Stephan Mielke,Mohamad Mohty,Mutlu Arat,Arnon Nagler,Jakob Passweg,Hélène Schoemans,Gérard Socié,Carlos Solano,Radovan Vrhovac,Robert Zeiser,Nicolaus Kröger,Grzegorz W. Basak +25 more
TL;DR: Key updates to these recommendations include a broader use of rabbit anti-T-cell globulin; lower steroid doses for the management of grade 2 acute GVHD with isolated skin or upper gastrointestinal tract manifestations; fluticasone, azithromycin, and montelukast should be used for bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome; and the addition of newer treatment options for resteroid-refractory acute and chronic GV HD.
Journal ArticleDOI
A T-cell epitope encoded by a subset of HLA-DPB1 alleles determines nonpermissive mismatches for hematologic stem cell transplantation
Elisabetta Zino,Guido Frumento,Sarah Marktel,Maria Pia Sormani,Francesca Ficara,Simona Di Terlizzi,Anna Maria Parodi,Ruhena Sergeant,Miryam Martinetti,Andrea Bontadini,Francesca Bonifazi,Daniela Lisini,Benedetta Mazzi,Silvano Rossini,Paolo Servida,Fabio Ciceri,Chiara Bonini,Edoardo Lanino,Giuseppe Bandini,Franco Locatelli,Jane F. Apperley,Andrea Bacigalupo,Giovanni Battista Ferrara,Claudio Bordignon,Katharina Fleischhauer +24 more
TL;DR: It is shown that HLA-DPB1*0901 encodes a T-cell epitope shared by a subset of DPB1 alleles that determines nonpermissive mismatches for HSC transplantation, suggesting that biologic characterization of in vivo alloreactivity can be a tool for definition of clinically relevantnonpermissive HLA mismatching for unrelated HSC transplation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induction chemotherapy stategies for primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma with sclerosis: A retrospective multinational study on 426 previously untreated patients
Pier Luigi Zinzani,Maurizio Martelli,Marilena Bertini,Alessandro M. Gianni,Liliana Devizzi,Massimo Federico,Gerassimos A. Pangalis,Jorg Michels,Emanuele Zucca,Maria Cantonetti,Sergio Cortelazzo,Andrew Wotherspoon,Andrés J.M. Ferreri,Francesco Zaja,Francesco Lauria,Amalia De Renzo,Marina Liberati,Brunangelo Falini,Monica Balzarotti,A. Calderoni,Alfonso Zaccaria,Patrizia Gentilini,Pier Paolo Fattori,Enzo Pavone,Maria K. Angelopoulou,Lapo Alinari,Maura Brugiatelli,Nicola Di Renzo,Francesca Bonifazi,Stefano Pileri,Franco Cavalli +30 more
TL;DR: In patients with PMLBCL with sclerosis, MACOP-B plus radiation therapy may be a better strategy than other treatments; these retrospective data need to be confirmed by prospective studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical Effects of Driver Somatic Mutations on the Outcomes of Patients With Myelodysplastic Syndromes Treated With Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem-Cell Transplantation
Matteo G. Della Porta,Anna Gallì,Andrea Bacigalupo,Silvia Zibellini,Massimo Bernardi,Ettore Rizzo,Bernardino Allione,Maria Teresa Van Lint,Pietro Pioltelli,Paola Marenco,Alberto Bosi,Maria Teresa Voso,Simona Sica,Mariella Cuzzola,Emanuele Angelucci,Marianna Rossi,Marta Ubezio,Alberto Malovini,Ivan Limongelli,Virginia Valeria Ferretti,Orietta Spinelli,Cristina Tresoldi,Sarah Pozzi,Silvia Luchetti,Laura Pezzetti,Silvia Catricalà,Chiara Milanesi,Alberto Riva,Benedetto Bruno,Fabio Ciceri,Francesca Bonifazi,Riccardo Bellazzi,Elli Papaemmanuil,Armando Santoro,Emilio Paolo Alessandrino,Alessandro Rambaldi,Mario Cazzola +36 more
TL;DR: Somatic mutation in ASXL1, RUNX1, or TP53 is independently associated with unfavorable outcomes and shorter survival after allogeneic HSCT for patients with MDS and MDS/AML.
