Journal ArticleDOI
PTEN maintains haematopoietic stem cells and acts in lineage choice and leukaemia prevention
Jiwang Zhang,Justin C. Grindley,Tong Yin,Sachintha M. Jayasinghe,Xi C. He,Jason Ross,Jeffrey S. Haug,Dawn E Rupp,Kimberly S. Porter-Westpfahl,Leanne M. Wiedemann,Leanne M. Wiedemann,Hong Wu,Linheng Li,Linheng Li +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that inactivation of PTEN in bone marrow HSCs causes their short-term expansion, but long-term decline, primarily owing to an enhanced level of HSC activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Runx-dependent expression of PKC is critical for cell survival in the sea urchin embryo
Carrie Dickey-Sims,Anthony J. Robertson,Dawn E Rupp,John J. McCarthy,John J. McCarthy,James A. Coffman +5 more
TL;DR: It is reported here that SpRunt-1 deficiency leads to ectopic cell proliferation and extensive apoptosis, and Runx-dependent activation of SpPKC1 is essential for maintaining protein kinase C activity at levels conducive to cell survival during embryogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
CBFβ is a facultative Runx partner in the sea urchin embryo
Anthony J. Robertson,Anthony J. Robertson,Carrie Dickey-Sims,Andrew Ransick,Dawn E Rupp,John J. McCarthy,John J. McCarthy,James A. Coffman,James A. Coffman +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown here that knockdown of SpCBFβ does not negatively impact cell survival or SpPKC1 expression, although it does lead to differentiation defects similar to those associated with SpRunt-1 deficiency.
