Legal Cynicism and (Subcultural?) Tolerance of Deviance: The Neighborhood Context of Racial Differences

Journal ArticleDOI

Is age important? testing a general versus a developmental theory of antisocial behavior*

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used longitudinal data spanning from age 5 to age 18 for the male subjects in the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Study to test competing hypotheses derived from Gottfredson and Hirschis (1990) general theory and Moffitt's (1993a) developmental theory of antisocial behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gender, Reflected Appraisals, and Labeling: A Cross-Group Test of an Interactionist Theory of Delinquency

TL;DR: In this paper, a cross-gender model of delinquency using data from the National Youth Survey was proposed. But the model was not applied to the gender gap in delinquent behavior, and the results showed that for both males and females, parental labeling and reflected appraisals had a larger effect on delinquency.
