Journal ArticleDOI
Lipid droplets fuel SARS-CoV-2 replication and production of inflammatory mediators.
Suelen da Silva Gomes Dias,Vinicius Cardoso Soares,Vinicius Cardoso Soares,André C. Ferreira,Carolina Q. Sacramento,Natalia Fintelman-Rodrigues,Jairo R. Temerozo,Lívia Teixeira,Marcos Alexandre Nunes da Silva,Ester A. Barreto,Mayara Mattos,Caroline S. de Freitas,Isaclaudia G. de Azevedo-Quintanilha,Pedro P.A. Manso,Milene D. Miranda,Marilda M. Siqueira,Eugenio D. Hottz,Eugenio D. Hottz,Camila R. R. Pão,Dumith Chequer Bou-Habib,Debora Ferreira Barreto-Vieira,Fernando A. Bozza,Thiago Moreno L. Souza,Patrícia T. Bozza +23 more
TL;DR: The essential role of lipid metabolic reprograming and LD formation in SARS-CoV-2 replication and pathogenesis is demonstrated, opening new opportunities for therapeutic strategies to COVID-19 patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural investigation of C6/36 and Vero cell cultures infected with a Brazilian Zika virus.
Debora Ferreira Barreto-Vieira,Fernanda Cunha Jácome,Marcos Alexandre Nunes da Silva,Gabriela Cardoso Caldas,Ana Maria Bispo de Filippis,Patrícia Carvalho de Sequeira,Elen Mello de Souza,Audrien Alves Andrade,Pedro Paulo de Abreu Manso,Gisela Freitas Trindade,Sheila Maria Barbosa de Lima,Ortrud Monika Barth +11 more
TL;DR: The susceptibility of C6/36 and Vero cells to ZIKV infection was demonstrated and part of the replicative cycle may occur within viroplasm-like structures, which has been previously demonstrated in other flaviviruses.
Book ChapterDOI
Negative and Positive Staining in Transmission Electron Microscopy for Virus Diagnosis
TL;DR: Two complementary techniques for investigating the structure of a virus and its parasitic life cycle are presented in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Morphology and morphogenesis of SARS-CoV-2 in Vero-E6 cells.
Debora Ferreira Barreto-Vieira,Marcos Alexandre Nunes da Silva,Cristiana C. Garcia,Milene D. Miranda,Aline R. Matos,Braulia Costa Caetano,Paola Cristina Resende,Fernando Couto Motta,Marilda M. Siqueira,Wendell Girard-Dias,Braulio S. Archanjo,Ortrud Monika Barth +11 more
TL;DR: The susceptibility of Vero-E6 cells to SARS-CoV-2 infection and the viral pathway inside the cells were demonstrated by ultrastructural analysis and transmission electron microscopy and real-time RT-PCR were documented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low impact to fixed cell processing aiming transmission electron microscopy
TL;DR: A new protocol was successfully developed using conventional reagents and equipments, but cell compression was reduced to none or the lowest deformation possible.
