Multiple virus resistance at a high frequency using a single transgene construct.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that efficient simultaneous targeting of four different tospoviruses can be achieved by using a single small transgene based on the production of minimal sized chimaeric cassettes.

Short Communication Multiple virus resistance at a high frequency using a single transgene construct

TL;DR: It is shown that efficient simultaneous targeting of four different tospoviruses can be achieved by using a single small transgene based on the production of minimal sized chimaeric cassettes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus resistance by Ty-1 involves increased cytosine methylation of viral genomes and is compromised by cucumber mosaic virus infection

TL;DR: Data is provided that indicates that Ty-1 confers resistance to TYLCV and other geminiviruses by enhancing transcriptional gene silencing, a part of the antiviral RNAi defense mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI

High frequency induction of RNA-mediated resistance against Cucumber mosaic virus using inverted repeat constructs

TL;DR: The results indicate that the use of inverted repeat viral transgenes is a highly efficient approach to obtain CMV resistant transgenic plants, which enables the implementation of this protocol for crops that are difficult to transform, such as ornamental plants in which CMV is an important pathogen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tsw gene-based resistance is triggered by a functional RNA silencing suppressor protein of the Tomato spotted wilt virus

TL;DR: It was shown that the NSs(RI) protein triggered a hypersensitive response (HR) in Tsw-containing Capsicum plants, but not in susceptible Capsicum, whereas no HR was discerned after expression of the N( RI) (/) (RB) protein, or whenNSs(RB) was expressed.
