Journal ArticleDOI
Prohibitin is overexpressed in papillary thyroid carcinomas bearing the BRAFV600E mutation
Alessandra Franzoni,Mariavittoria Dima,Maria D'Agostino,Cinzia Puppin,Dora Fabbro,Carla Di Loreto,Maura Pandolfi,Efisio Puxeddu,Sonia Moretti,Marilena Celano,Rocco Bruno,Sebastiano Filetti,Diego Russo,Giuseppe Damante +13 more
TL;DR: It is postulate that the presence of the BRAF(V600E) mutation increases PHB promoter activity and therefore potentially mediates effects of this mutation on the behavior of BRAf(V 600E) positive PTCs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation by Human Chorionic Gonadotropin of Sodium/Iodide Symporter Gene Expression in the JAr Human Choriocarcinoma Cell Line
Franco Arturi,Ludovic Lacroix,Ivan Presta,Daniela Scarpelli,Bernard Caillou,Martin Schlumberger,Diego Russo,Jean Michel Bidart,Sebastiano Filetti +8 more
TL;DR: JAr cells may represent an excellent in vitro model suitable to analyze the molecular mechanisms involved in iodide transport from mother to fetus, and cAMP-dependent and -independent mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ape1/Ref-1 expression and cellular localization in human thyroid carcinoma cell lines
Diego Russo,Franco Arturi,Stefania Bulotta,Lucia Pellizzari,Sebastiano Filetti,Giorgio Manzini,Giuseppe Damante,Gianluca Tell +7 more
TL;DR: A pattern of expression corresponds to that observed in thyroid tumoral tissues except for the WRO cells which behave as the follicular adenomas rather than carcinomas, which represent an excellent in vitro model to analyze the molecular mechanisms involved in Ref-1 regulation and activity and clarify its role in thyroid tumorigenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oral Administration of Oleuropein and Its Semisynthetic Peracetylated Derivative Prevents Hepatic Steatosis, Hyperinsulinemia, and Weight Gain in Mice Fed with High Fat Cafeteria Diet
Saverio Massimo Lepore,Valeria Maria Morittu,Marilena Celano,Francesca Trimboli,Manuela Oliverio,Antonio Procopio,Carla Di Loreto,Giuseppe Damante,Domenico Britti,Stefania Bulotta,Diego Russo +10 more
TL;DR: A peracetylated derivative of Ole (Ac-Ole) is synthesized which has shown in vitro antioxidant and growth-inhibitory activity higher than the natural molecule and is promising candidates for a potential pharmaceutic use in metabolic disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective study of alpha-interferon and autologous bone marrow transplantation in chronic myeloid leukemia. The Italian Co-operative Study Group on Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
Giovanna Meloni,Diego Russo,Michele Baccarani,N Testoni,Giovanni Martinelli,R Fanin,Eliana Zuffa,Giovanni Rosti,Giuliana Alimena,G. Saglio,Franco Mandelli,Tura S +11 more
TL;DR: This study shows that bone marrow hemopoietic progenitors (Ph neg and Ph pos) can be collected from patients who respond to alphaIFN and can be used to rescue hemopOietic activity after high dose chemotherapy.
