A communication system includes a plurality of recipient processors (14, 15, 16) located at geographically remote locations with respect to each other and connected for communication with an information provider processor (12), over the communications network. The provider (12) and recipient processors (14, 15, 16) may comprise respective computers coupled for communication on the Internet or WWW. The provider processor is capable of providing information from any suitable source, by communicating such information over a communications network. However, access to the information by the recipient processors is controlled, based on the geographic location or region of the recipient processors. Each recipient processor is operably associated with a positioning system for providing geographic location information corresponding to the location or region in which the positioning system is located, such as a global positioning system GPS (20, 21, 22). The geographic position information is used to determine whether or not the processor requesting the information is within a restricted or non-restricted region.

The invention relates to a fuel-injection valve, in particular a high-pressure injection valve for directly injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of a compressed-mixture, spark-ignition internal combustion engine. Said valve is characterised in that an outlet opening (23) is provided downstream of the valve seat (20), the downstream end of said opening having a slit-forming element (30) that to a great extent closes the outlet opening (23). A slit-type flow outlet (35), through which a fuel spray can be discharged in a fan-type jet, is formed between the slit-forming element (30) and a front face (34) of the valve seat body (16).

The invention relates to a common rail injector for injecting fuel in a common rail injection system of an internal combustion engine. The common rail injector has an injector housing (1) with a fuel inlet (21) that is connected to a central high pressure fuel accumulator outside the injector housing (1) and a pressure chamber (24) inside the injector housing (1). Fuel is injected out of said pressure chamber at high pressure in accordance with the position of a control valve (33). This control valve ensures that a nozzle needle (8) that can be moved axially back and forth in a longitudinal bore (6) of the injector, against the prestressing force of a nozzle spring (19) located in a nozzle spring chamber (20), is lifted up from a seat when the pressure in the pressure chamber (24) is greater than the pressure in a control chamber (30), said control chamber being connected to the fuel inlet (21) by a fuel intake throttle (31). The aim of the invention is to provide a common rail injector of small construction volume and with a simple construction that is also economical to produce. To this end, the control chamber (30) is delimited by a sleeve (28) which is sealingly displaceable on the end of the nozzle needle (8) furthest from the combustion chamber and can be held in a position in which it rests against the injector housing (1) with the help of the nozzle spring (19).

Piezoelectrically actuated fuel injection valve

The invention relates to a valve control unit (1) for a fuel injection valve, comprising two communicating valve control chambers (5, 8). The end member (13) of a valve control piston (3) that may be impinged upon with pressure is located inside the first valve control chamber (5) that is connected to a supply channel (6). Said member can be displaced in such a way that the flow cross section for fuel exchange may be shifted from the first valve control chamber (5) to the second valve control chamber (8) that is connected to a drain channel (9). A throttle channel (17) for fuel exchange between the valve control chambers (5, 8) is embodied in the end member (13) of the valve control piston (3). Due to the configuration of the throttle channel (17), mechanical stop of the end member (13) of the valve control piston (3) is made possible on the edge areas of the passage between the valve control chambers (5, 8). The stop makes it possible to enlarge the volume of the first valve control chamber (5), said volume enlargement having no negative effect on the performance of the stop of the end member (13). Increased reaction speed of the valve control piston (3) after conclusion of the injection process can be obtained as final result of these constructional measures.
