TL;DR: The incidence of open globe injuries in the United States decreased from 2006 to 2014 and appears to provide valuable information for targeting preventive measures toward individuals at highest risk; targeting young men with lower socioeconomic status and individuals 70 years or older at an increased risk of falls may help lower the incidence.
