DNA Synthesis as a Measure of Bacterial Productivity in Seagrass Sediments

TL;DR: B a c t e r ~ a l growth rates In sedlments have been calculated fiom measurements of the rate of lncolporatlon of trltlated thymldlne Into d e o x y r ~ b o n u c l e ~ c a ld (DNA) T h e dl lut lon of Isotope In DNA w a s used to est lmate the s u m of the pools of thymaldlne
Journal ArticleDOI

Primary and bacterial productivity of tropical seagrass communities in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Australia

TL;DR: Seagrass biomass and shoot density were very variable, with no seasonal trend, and Animals appeared to have an impact on bacteria at the sediment surface in summer, when specific growth rates and productivity were high, but numbers were low.
Journal ArticleDOI

Organic carbon transport from the Southern Ocean and bacterial growth in the Antarctic intermediate Water masses of the Tasman Sea

TL;DR: The results support the concept that organic matter slnks ~11th downwelhng water In the zone between the Subtropical Convergence and the Polar Front in the Southern Ocean and 15 advected towards the equator below the photlc zone.
