Assessing the depolarization capabilities of nonspherical particles in a super-ellipsoidal shape space.

TL;DR: The state-of-the-art invariant imbedding T-matrix method is used to theoretically assess the backscattering linear depolarization ratio (LDR) of nonspherical particles in a super-ellipsoidal shape space to provide comprehensive references for understanding the LDR change of atmospheric aerosols as the particle shape and refractive index for interpreting LiDAR backscattered signals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Theoretical model of radiative transfer in opacified aerogel based on realistic microstructures

TL;DR: In this paper, the optical properties of opacified silica aerogels were analyzed using a realistic microstructure model to calculate the opacification of the aerogel's optical properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of plant diversity on biomass production and substrate nitrogen in a subsurface vertical flow constructed wetland

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper conducted a plant diversity experiment in a subsurface vertical flow constructed wetland for treating domestic wastewater in southeastern China and found that greater diversity of plant community led to higher biomass production and substrate nitrogen retention, thus they recommend that plant biodiversity should be incorporated in constructed wetlands to improve wastewater treatment efficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI

Virus-Like Particle Engineering: From Rational Design to Versatile Applications.

TL;DR: The rational structure design, manufacturing process, functionalization strategy, and emerging applications of VLPs is reviewed and novel robust VLP manufacturing platforms are required to deliver vaccines in resource-poor regions with a significant reduction in the production time and cost.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adiabatic air–water two-phase flow in circular microchannels

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of channel size and superficial phasic velocity on the two-phase flow pattern and pressure drop of air-water mixture in circular microchannels with inner diameters of 100, 180 and 324μm were investigated.
