Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of spray angle on the combustion and emission performance of a separated swirl combustion system in a diesel engine

TL;DR: In this paper, a new separated swirl combustion system (SSCS) was developed to improve air efficiency in the center and squish areas of the combustion chamber, and the optimal spray angle for the SSCS was found.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of intake swirl on the fuel/air mixing and combustion performance in a lateral swirl combustion system for direct injection diesel engines

TL;DR: In this paper, a single-cylinder diesel engine was evaluated under different swirl ratios to optimize the circumferential injection angle (CIA) and test the eventual combustion performance of the lateral swirl combustion system (LSCS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Combustion performance and fuel injection timing adaptability of a lateral swirl combustion system for direct injection diesel engines

TL;DR: In this article, the lateral swirl combustion system (LSCS) performance was compared with a widely-used TCD combustion system experimentally in a single-cylinder diesel engine, and the experimental results showed the LSCS exhibited better combustion performance and lower emissions compared to the TCDCS: the fuel consumption and soot emissions were decreased by 2.5-4.2
Journal ArticleDOI

Combustion performance and mechanisms of the fuel/air mixture in a new separated swirl combustion system

TL;DR: In this paper, a separated swirl combustion system (SSCS) was proposed to improve air efficiency in the combustion chamber and accelerate the fuel/air mixture in a single-cylinder diesel engine.
