Carina Hoorn,Frank P. Wesselingh,H. ter Steege,Mauricio A. Bermúdez,Andrés Mora,Jan Sevink,Isabel Sanmartín,A. Sanchez-Meseguer,Cajsa Lisa Anderson,J. P. Figueiredo,Carlos Jaramillo,Douglas Riff,Francisco Ricardo Negri,Henry Hooghiemstra,John G. Lundberg,Tanja Stadler,Tiina Särkinen,Alexandre Antonelli,Alexandre Antonelli +18 more
TL;DR: It is shown that Andean uplift was crucial for the evolution of Amazonian landscapes and ecosystems, and that current biodiversity patterns are rooted deep in the pre-Quaternary.
Journal ArticleDOI
Baurusuchid crocodyliforms as theropod mimics: clues from the skull and appendicular morphology of Stratiotosuchus maxhechti (Upper Cretaceous of Brazil)
TL;DR: The appendicular morphology of S. maxhechti strengthens the interpretation that the Baurusuchidae were active land-dwelling predators in the Upper Cretaceous of south-eastern Brazil, occuping ecological niches typical of small to medium-sized theropod dinosaurs.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new giant Purussaurus (Crocodyliformes, Alligatoridae) from the Upper Miocene Urumaco Formation, Venezuela
TL;DR: A phylogenetic analysis of 164 characters in 68 ingroup crocodile taxa supported the association of P. neivensis and P. mirandai with five synapomorphies and confirmed the sister‐group relationship of the genus with the Nettosuchidae.

On a new peirosaurid crocodyliform from the Upper Cretaceous, Bauru Group, southeastern Brazil
Diogenes de Almeida Campos,Gustavo R. Oliveira,Rodrigo G. Figueiredo,Douglas Riff,Sergio A.K. Azevedo,Luciana B. Carvalho,Alexander W. A. Kellner +6 more
TL;DR: A new crocodyliform from the Upper Cretaceous Presidente Prudente Formation of the Bauru Group is described based on two almost complete skulls and mandibles, particularly of the Peirosauridae, which might turn out to be one of the most representative clades of gondwanan mesoeucrocodylians.
