Journal ArticleDOI

HNF-3A, a hepatocyte-enriched transcription factor of novel structure is regulated transcriptionally.

TL;DR: The mRNA for HNF-3A is present in the rat liver but not in brain, kidney, intestine, or spleen, and the basis for this difference is cell-specific regulation of HNF -3A gene transcription.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transcriptional control of the mouse prealbumin (transthyretin) gene: both promoter sequences and a distinct enhancer are cell specific.

TL;DR: Two DNA elements are identified in the prealbumin gene that respond in a cell-specific manner: a proximal promoter including a crucial sequence between -108 and -151 nucleotides and a distant enhancer element located between 1.6 and 2.15 kilobases upstream.
Journal ArticleDOI

The cell-specific enhancer of the mouse transthyretin (prealbumin) gene binds a common factor at one site and a liver-specific factor(s) at two other sites.

TL;DR: This report located the effective transthyretin enhancer element within a 100-bp region between 1.96 and 1.86 kb 5' to the mRNA cap site within Hep G2 nuclear extracts.
